FAQ
Questions people are likely to have
Honest answers, including the ones that are just "not yet." First Look Futures is currently being developed.
- Who is First Look Futures for?
- Students who are trying to figure out what they might want to do, and the parents, professionals, and organizations who want to help them see what careers are actually like.
- Does my school have to be involved?
- No. First Look Futures is not run through any school, and a student doesn't need their school's involvement to explore the site.
- Do you only focus on healthcare?
- No. It's meant to cover many different fields — healthcare, science and research, technology, engineering, law and government, business and finance, arts and media, education and social sciences, and other careers.
- Can students request a specific career?
- Yes. You can tell us what you're curious about through the student interest form. That helps decide which careers get written about first, though we can't promise information or an experience for every career.
- Where is First Look Futures starting?
- It's starting in Atlanta, Georgia, with the possibility of expanding later.
- Are shadowing opportunities available right now?
- No. Career-exploration experiences, including shadowing, are currently being developed. There are no opportunities to sign up for yet, and we won't list any until they're real.
- Can professionals get involved?
- Professionals can share their interest through the professional interest form. Nothing is set up yet, so it's a way to be contacted as the initiative develops rather than joining an existing program.
- Can organizations get involved?
- Organizations can also share interest through the organization interest form. There are no partner organizations at this time.
- Do students need parent/guardian involvement?
- For anything in person, yes — any required parent or guardian consent and organizational requirements would be completed before a student participates. Browsing career information on the site doesn't require anything.
